Members Meeting with speaker Rachael Emous-Austin - Director and Landscape Architect of Austin Design Works

Running an ethical and sustainable business is key to Rachael’s approach as a director of Austin Design Works. She has been the driver behind their application to become a BCorp, ensuring the business is signed up to the better business act. Growing up in the countryside, from an early age Rachael learnt about plants and wildlife, developing a deep respect for nature, inspiring her vocation in landscape architecture.

Graduating from the University of Gloucestershire over 25 years ago, Rachael has spent her time working on large country estate projects and preparing masterplans working as part of multi-disciplinary consultant teams for development sites, achieving biodiversity net gain. She also has experience undertaking historic landscape restoration as well as garden design, tree surveying and historic woodland and landscape management.

Always thinking ahead, be it 30 years or 300, Rachael is of improving people’s experience of place, their sense of well-being and mitigating the effects of climate change, ensuring in a small way the lasting benefit nature can have for all of us.
