Members Networking Meeting with Speaker Katharine Walker Director of the Corinium Museum Cirencester

Katharine Walker joined Corinium Museum as its new Director in February. She came to the Cotswolds from Lyndhurst , having previously managed the New Forest Heritage Centre where she was based for six years. She has also worked in collections roles in different museums including the major Iron Age site of Hengistbury Head near Bournemouth. Katharine is an archaeologist by training and completed a PhD on Neolithic stone axes at Southampton University in 2015. She is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London, a Visiting Research Fellow in Archaeology at Bournemouth University, and a consultant in intellectual property with Naomi Korn Associates.

The Gladiators are coming to Corinium!

In this presentation, Katharine will provide a brief overview of Corinium Museum, its background, and highlights from the collection, as well as what’s planned for the year ahead. In particular, this will focus on our forthcoming major touring exhibition: Gladiators: a Cemetery of Secrets which will arrive in October from York Archaeological Trust, the people behind the Yorvik Viking Centre. She will talk about the programme of events and activities that is planned and how you and your businesses might like to get involved.

Directions once arrived: Enter main Clubhouse, proceed up stairs and once in bar the meeting room is on your left.

Please note MGC may require that you provide your name and address on arrival (for insurance purposes).  Facemasks to be worn at your discretion.
